Senior Controls Engineer

Tired of working yourself to death?
Have a family that doesn’t remember you name?

Not respected; culture not a good fit?
No longer have interesting problems to solve?

If that sounds like you, this may be the opportunity you’re looking for!
Our job is to create an environment where great people thrive
We do that by looking for outcomes and not hours
By trusting you and treating you as a professional
By working for you as hard as you work for us

To be clear, this is not your ordinary Controls Engineering position. This is an opportunity to collaborate with customers and vendors, put your problem solving skills to work and design control systems that delight our customers. You’ll be part of a great team who strive for continuous improvement and are encouraged to grow in your career. This is a hardware-centric position where you’ll concentrate on detailed panel design with occasional programming and local onsite startup. A working knowledge of UL508a and NEC along with PLC/interface programming is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.
We are a privately held company that takes pride in our structured, hardworking team who constantly strive to make improvements. Our team lives by our core values of “Do the right thing” – we act with Absolute Integrity and Agility, we are always Customer-Centic and together we are a Pod of Killer Whales (look this one up!). We have fun, love to see progress and play to win. We have a family friendly environment with great people, excellent benefits and do not tolerate games or politics. We build extremely high-quality products that are on time, every time. We can fight fires to make things happen AND step back to improve the processes, so we don’t fight the same fires again.

There’s an old saying; “People get hired for what they know and fired for who they are.
We break that stereotype by hiring people and not resumes!
Let’s see if we’re a match!

Control Panel Designer

Hey panel designers, are you nearing the limit of traveling, working long hours and missing your family? Are you tired of trading electrical schematics and PLC programs for family time? Do you remember what a hot meal at the dinner table is like? Do you know how your kids team is doing or how your spouse’s day went? Nights and weekends are made for family, and we’ll make sure you have that time.

The owner of The Industrial Controls Company started the company 30 years ago, working from his home, when his son was 3 years old. His biggest concern was not whether he could get the company off the ground, but that he would miss his families’ activities. They continued to have dinner together every night. He coached his son’s soccer team. He shared in taking him to school and even staying home when he was sick. And he and his wife, Dennise, made every play, concert, and game! So, how is that possible? Starting a company is a huge endeavor, right? Well, there’s 24 hours in a day and there were a lot of sleepless nights to get the work done, keep the books, create marketing materials, etc. It was challenging at times, but the priority never changed. And this philosophy holds true today. You see, we don’t hire resumes; we hire awesome people. We can teach you the ICC way of designing control panels, but we can’t teach you the family values and work ethic necessary to be successful here. We don’t tolerate games or politics and there’s no place for showboats to hide. But, if you’re an awesome person whose priority is making memories with your family and are looking for a place that has the same values, you’ve found it.

Along with being the most family friendly company on the planet, we take a lot of pride in designing and building the best control panels available anywhere. Our onboarding process includes “hands-on” time in all areas of the company to not just learn what we do, but to learn why we do it. While some people may believe it’s beneath them to be building panels for a short time, we believe it gives all new team members the ability to interact with everyone and to promote direct communication, which is crucial to success. We know it’s not about reading manuals, it’s the real-world experience with the support of a team who know your success will help them and the company to be more successful. (And by the way, the days of working 24 hours are long gone!) No one laid on their death bed wishing they would have worked more. It is possible to create memories with your family and to have a fulfilling career. All this is possible at a place where your teammates become your second family. Your family deserves your presence.
