We are thoroughly versed in all relevant standards and can reliably guide your project through the control panel certification protocols for the international, national and local codes that relate to your control panel or control system. The Industrial Controls Company is qualified to self-certify projects we build, certify your own designs as a stand-alone service, as well as consult with you on certification pathways.
Control Panel Inspection for Certifications


We are qualified to manufacture and certify for all standards listed below.

  • UL 508A Certification Validation & Approval Services – Our in-house specialists are trained and certified in the UL 508A certification by Underwriters Laboratory.  Once the enclosed control panel or open sub-panel has been tested and certified, we are authorized to apply the familiar UL-supplied sticker.

  • CUL / ESA / CSA Canadian Standards Association – CSA Group is an independent, internationally-accredited standards development, testing and certification organization.
  • NFPA79 – Provides safeguards for industrial machinery to protect operators, equipment, facilities, and work-in-progress from fire and electrical hazards.
  • CE – Designates a control panel in compliance with European Union (EU) requirements for products sold in Europe.
  • FM Global – A third party approval agency offering industrial and commercial product certification and testing services through FM Approvals. Recognized and respected worldwide, FM Global certification assures customers a product or service that has been objectively tested and conforms to the highest national and international standards.
  • CSIA – Founded in 1994, CSIA is a not-for-profit, global trade association that advances the business practices of control system integration companies.
  • NEC – National Electrical Code. Regulations and specifications for wiring as published by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc.  Adopted in all 50 states, the NEC is the benchmark for safe electrical design, installation, and inspection to protect people and property from electrical hazards.
  • Intrinsically Safe (UL 698A and NRBX Certified) – These requirements cover industrial control panels intended for general industrial use and installation in unclassified locations with intrinsically safe circuit extensions into the following hazardous (classified) locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70:
    • a) Class I, Division 1;
    • b) Class I, Zone 0 and Zone 1;
    • c) Class II, Division 1;
    • d) Class III, Division 1; and
    • e) Zone 20 and Zone 21.
  • Hazardous Location (NNNY Certified) – The Industrial Controls Company has undergone the rigorous testing and certification requirements of UL to be a manufacturer of custom built and mass produced hazardous location industrial control panels.
